Six people have died in a tragic accident between a light van and a minibus taxi on the R40 in Bushbukridge, Mpumalanga.

Mpumalanga police are investigating a fatal accident

The SAPS’ preliminary investigation revealed that the truck lost control and collided with a pedestrian before hitting a taxi in the Violent Bank area on May 25, 2024.

This was told by Moeti Mmusi from the Mpumalanga security department Short news that the pedestrian and four passengers of the taxi died on the spot, while the passenger of the truck died while being transported to a nearby hospital:

“The driver of the light van was seriously injured, while several passengers in the minibus taxi suffered injuries ranging from minor to serious.”

Mmusi added that all the injured had been rushed to a nearby hospital and authorities had launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.

Mpumalanga MEC is urging motorists to exercise caution

Mpumalanga’s acting Safety MEC Busi Shiba called on road motorists to be vigilant when driving on the roads in the province as such accidents cause misery to many families:

“Motorists must help us curb the unnecessary loss of life by obeying the rules and exercising caution.”

Short news reported that on April 18, 2024, a bus and a truck collided in Limpopo, killing eight people.

The bus driver lost control and crashed into the truck carrying employees of a local company home.

Limpopo Transport Department spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene told Briefly News they had noticed an increase in bus accidents in Limpopo.
