Flamborough operation ready for closure

By Vaseline May30,2024

It appears Flamborough GP surgery will be permanently closed.

The satellite operation in the village has not been used for the past 18 months.

Jon Duckies from The Humber Primary Care Trust says the facilities are not up to standard.

Historically, both Bridlington’s Field House Surgery and Manor House Surgery provided services from Flamborough as a satellite clinic. This Flamborough satellite service was discontinued by Field House when One Medical had the contract due to staffing and was provided intermittently post-Covid by Manor House and later Humber Primary Care. There has been no service provided from Flamborough for over 18 months

Jon Duckies from Humber NHS Trust says they have looked at a range of alternatives.

Patients who currently receive their primary care from Humber Primary Care in Bridlington, but live in Flamborough or Bempton, have been contacted with notice of the Trust’s plans to permanently close the satellite surgery in Flamborough.

Patients were contacted via text message informing them of plans to make the temporary closure permanent in the future. The text message included a request that patients who wanted to provide feedback on this closure could send their thoughts to a specially created and monitored email address.

Early consultation with councilors made it clear that people are struggling to obtain repeat prescriptions if they cannot access the NHS app. One idea that HPC is exploring is the use of a box at the local post office or pharmacy where people can place requests for repeat prescriptions, which will be collected by the practice. Patients who cannot use the App can still contact the practice by telephone to order repeat prescriptions.

Jon Duckies says health professionals will host an event in Flamborough to help people access services through the NHS app.

In an update on their website, The NHS Trust said:

“Thank you to the patients who provided feedback on the proposed continuation of services to our Flamborough residents through Humber Primary Care. Patients were asked to email their feedback by Sunday, May 12 and this has now been completed.

The feedback provided will be collated and addressed in an FAQ document which will be published on the Humber Primary Care website.”
