Parfetts is expanding its reach in the Southwest

By Vaseline May30,2024

Stores in the South West can now take advantage of free delivery and value-for-money promotions as the wholesaler expands its national footprint.

Over the past 18 months, Parfetts said it has continued to invest in its operations with the expansion of the service provided and improvements to its IT infrastructure, in addition to a ‘proactive approach’ to stock purchasing and stock availability.

Kajan Palakumar, owner of two convenience stores, one in Gloucester and one in Somerset. He said: “I had a Go Local store in Sheffield for over two years before moving south so I was used to regularly singing Parfetts for deliveries and visiting the nearby depot in Sheffield. I have always been impressed with Parfetts stock availability and offers.

“Now, with my store in Gloucester, I love the convenience and freedom of ordering online, rather than having to go to my nearest depot in Birmingham.

“I order online every Monday for delivery on Wednesday and spend an average of €2,000 to €3,000 on a range of items every week. I’m impressed with the efficiency of the delivery service, and because everything is done online it means I have to spend less time visiting the depot, which, as a busy retailer with two stores, running makes life a lot easier.

“It’s great to have access to excellent online offers and get free delivery, but I also like to visit the depot every now and then to see what other offers are on.”

Saisanth Nagrathinam, from Dursley Local Store and Post Office in Gloucester, said: “I have been a Parfetts customer since the Birmingham depot opened last year and have increasingly used the online delivery service, which I find reliable and convenient.

“Solid promotions are important to me, as is stock variety, and I find Parfetts has both. The free delivery service is much better than my previous wholesaler and I always get value for money. It is especially strong for alcohol offers and general messages, which suit the needs of my customers.

“I like the flexibility of being able to order the majority of my items for free and have them conveniently delivered directly to my store, and then being able to visit my local depot to take advantage of some of the other offers available.”

The employee-owned company, Parfetts, operates depots in Aintree, Anfield, Birmingham, Halifax, Middlesbrough, Sheffield, Somercotes and Stockport. Its operations cover Northumberland, Wales, the Midlands and Northamptonshire. It opened its eighth depot in Birmingham in March 2023, creating more than 100 new jobs and helping thousands of retailers in the Midlands and beyond access great deals.

Steve Moore, head of retail at Parfetts, said: “Extending our reach into the South West brings strong promotions and Parfetts service to a new audience of convenience retailers who may not have previously been aware of the power of our value and service offering.

“Retailers need the flexibility to trade the way and at the time they want. They find it important to work with a wholesaler that invests in improving the support they offer. Our delivery service gives customers cash-and-carry prizes, free delivery. This day one ordering service for day two gives retailers additional flexibility and, combined with our online ordering system, allows us to serve retailers in a much wider geographical area.”
