The Sims 4 is adding free Battle Pass-like events

By Vaseline May30,2024

While The Sims team may be hard at work on the series’ next title, Project Rene, that doesn’t mean they aren’t taking the time to make some major changes to the current version of the series. EA has announced that limited-time events are coming to The Sims 4.

According to a blog post from EA, these events will reward players for logging in daily with free items, features and more. Font, a senior game designer at The Sims 4, wrote that the newly added events feature aims to add “new opportunities to your game.”

“Our team has created a platform for these new events to take place. Something that is flexible, easier to update, and makes it easy to find and claim the rewards,” said Font. “Our designers have been busy making this new system shine and preparing for the first event, while our artists have been creating new objects and Create-a-Sim pieces.”

The game’s first event, The Sims 4 Happy Home Login Event, kicks off today and is expected to last four weeks. The event includes a handful of items that “will help create a comfortable meeting place for your Sims,” as well as the Practice Makes Perfect feature, which will help your Sims learn skills faster. A full list of descriptions of all eight upcoming rewards can be found on the official EA blog.

Since The Sims 4 is known for its ever-growing (and expensive) catalog of DLC, the studio has already assured players that all items in events are completely free. According to Font, all players have to do is participate in the event. Once a reward has been claimed, it can be found in the base game.

However, Font also explained that the requirements for unlocking items will differ. While Happy at Home only requires players to log in, some events can take players on “quests” where they must complete objectives to earn rewards.

Font also explained how joining an event late works, writing:

“There is plenty of time during the event to jump in if you arrive late. Each day you start the game counts as a login to unlock the next available reward. If you arrive late to the event, there is still time to catch up, but it takes eight days to log in to unlock all the rewards. We’ve given an extra week to log in and claim the remaining rewards.’

With that in mind, Happy at Home should last through the first week of July. EA has not yet announced what event will follow, or how frequent events will be. For those who want to spice up The Sims 4 themselves, here are 25 mods we recommend.
