MACON, Ga. (41NBC/WMGT) – Dr. Anissa Jones has officially launched her campaign to fill the Georgia State House District 143 seat after House Minority Leader Representative James Beverly vacated the seat.

Dr. Jones is a well-known figure in the Middle Georgia community. She is the former vice chair of the Macon Water Authority Board and the first African American chiropractor to establish a practice in Macon-Bibb County and own the Total Fuze Spine and Pain Center in downtown Macon.

She outlined some of her focuses as public safety, infrastructure and economic development. Dr. Jones also emphasized the importance of access to health care and mental health care.

“People are facing a number of problems and cannot even meet their basic needs due to their mental health conditions. Macon, Georgia, Middle Georgia and Georgia deserve to have facilities in their neighborhoods that can provide that,” said Dr. Jones.

Dr. Jones will face Republican Barbara Boyer in the November election.
