Scurri acquires the British HelloDone to combine deliveries with AI

The Wexford-based company has developed a platform that helps online retailers with specific management tasks such as online ordering, shipping and delivery.

Scurri, the Irish delivery management software platform, today (May 31) announced the acquisition of British conversational AI company HelloDone.

The HelloDone platform uses generative AI to answer customer questions post-purchase on digital communication channels such as WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger. This helps retailers automate customer responses at scale, providing an improved user experience.

Meanwhile, Wexford-based Scurri has developed a platform that helps online retailers with specific management tasks such as online ordering, shipping and delivery.

Rory O’Connor, CEO and founder of Scurri, said the HelloDone platform is “highly complementary” to Scurri’s proprietary technology, allowing the company to unleash “new capabilities” and give customers “even more control” over delivery.

“Scurri’s acquisition of HelloDone demonstrates our commitment and ambition to accelerate our customers’ growth by enabling them to be at the forefront of the AI ​​revolution that is rapidly transforming retail,” said O’Connor.

As part of the acquisition, the HelloDone team will join Scurri. The company will also acquire all technology, trademarks, intellectual property and customers associated with HelloDone.

“HelloDone’s services are highly synergistic with those of Scurri,” said Ed Hodges, CEO and founder of Scurri. “We are excited about this opportunity to combine our collective knowledge, expertise and technology to deliver distinct competitive advantages as a fully integrated, solutions-oriented delivery and post-purchase service provider.”

Scurri said it has raised €15.3 million to date following a €9 million investment in 2021 to accelerate its growth in the European market. It has opened offices in London and now manages more than 100 million parcel deliveries annually for e-commerce merchants, including flagship customer eBay.

Some of Scurri’s new clients include The Perfume Shop, BrandAlley, Victoria Plumbing, Loake Shoes, LeMieux and Weird Fish. It announced an expansion of its operations in Wexford earlier this year, creating 40 new jobs.

The company also recently appointed Dr David Dempsey (former managing director at Salesforce Ireland) as chairman, while Fionnula Higgins (former chief commercial officer at Escher Group) joined Scurri’s board as an independent director.
