By Vaseline May31,2024

Charges are pending for a suspected DWI for a driver after the vehicle she was riding in was involved in a rollover Thursday evening outside Vass. The single-vehicle crash occurred in the 2000 block of Lobelia Road, near the intersection with Twin Ponds Lane.

Emergency units were dispatched just after 9 p.m. and arrived within minutes to find a Hyundai SUV upside down on the shoulder of the road.

According to North Carolina State Highway Patrol authorities who were investigating the scene, the vehicle was traveling east on Lobelia Road when the female driver ran off the shoulder of the road and overcorrected. She lost control of the vehicle, hit the ditch and overturned. The car came to rest on its roof and sustained heavy damage.

The male passenger suffered minor injuries and was transported to Moore Regional Hospital along with the female driver for evaluation.

Lobelia Road was closed while crews worked the scene, and the vehicle was removed.

Responding units included the Cypress Pointe Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office and the NC Highway Patrol.
