Teens arrested by police after woman was robbed near PBR

Police said two minors were among three people detained by police after a woman was robbed in Aranguez.

According to police reports, the 67-year-old woman was walking along the Aranguez Savannah on Friday around 12:40 p.m., on her way to the Priority Bus Route (PNR), when three teenagers confronted her.

The woman told police that one of them grabbed a necklace she was wearing, and the attackers took her money, cell phone and everything else she had with her.

The suspects then ran towards Oostelijke Hoofdweg.

However, around the same time, a marked police vehicle was driving along the bus route.

The woman was able to stop the car, which was driven by Inter Agency Task Force officers, and informed them of what had just happened.

The officers pursued the suspects and when they reached the area of ​​Jackson Street, all three were arrested.

The woman’s mobile phone and cash were apparently found with the woman.

As a result, the three individuals – including an 18-year-old from Jackson Street Petit Bourg; as well as a 16-year-old and a 15-year-old, both from Beetham Gardens, were arrested.

They were all taken to Barataria Police Station and were interrogated and charged by Cpl Cato.
