Kenya Power announces disruption of prepaid system: “Buy enough tokens now”

Kenyans using prepaid electricity must purchase sufficient tokens before Sunday, June 2.

Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced a prepaid system outage scheduled between Sunday and Monday.

Why the KPLC Token System is Shutting Down

In a public notice on Monday, May 27, KPLC said the planned outage will begin on Sunday, June 2 at 10:00 PM until Monday, June 3 at 10:00 PM.

The company explained that the outage is for the system upgrade to provide better services to customers.

“We would like to inform our customers that the prepaid token vending system will not be available from Sunday, June 2, 10:00 PM to Monday, June 3, 10:00 PM, so that we can upgrade our systems for better service,” the spokesperson said. KPLC.

The utility noted that token purchase points of sale including Kenya Power offices, M-PESA Paybill number 888880, Airtel Money and banking channels will be affected.

Kenya Power called for customer understanding and cooperation and urged them to purchase sufficient tokens in advance.

“We would therefore like to advise our prepaid customers to purchase sufficient tokens before then to avoid inconvenience,” the company added.
