One dead in a single-vehicle rollover crash near Stanley County – Mitchell Republic

STANLEY COUNTY, SD – A 63-year-old woman died Friday in a single-vehicle rollover crash.

According to South Dakota Public Safety officials, preliminary information about the crash indicated that the woman driving a 2005 Ford Taurus was southbound on War Creek Road when the vehicle left the roadway and entered the eastbound ditch. The vehicle rolled several times before catching fire on the passenger side.

According to South Dakota Highway Patrol officials, it is unknown at this time what caused the driver to leave the road and end up in a ditch.

The driver died from injuries sustained in the accident.

The name of the person involved has not been released pending notification of family members.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
